EG1311: Design and Make

Taken in AY 19/20 Sem 2

This module demands us to be innovative in coming up with designs to build a prototype with specific functions and purposes and the justifications of our final prototype design. Furthermore, the use of Arduino and some coding/ programming so as to power our prototype, and the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) Program to do 3D designs will be taught. This module is mainly student driven where students would work as a team to complete this project.

Taken in AY 19/20 Sem 2

All engineering students are required to take this module and is entirely group work. Basically it requires us to design and build a vehicle prototype that is able to overcome obstacles in one minute. Various software will be introduced such as CAD for 3D design of the prototype, Arduino to aid in the programming and coding of the vehicle prototype to make the prototype move and work. The obstacle course is excluded this semester due to covid19 and lab sessions are also cancelled so all groups are required to work independently for like the entire semester, which is quite unfortunate. Overall, the module gives exposure to 3D design, prototyping and object-oriented programming. Good teamwork is required to ace this module.
